The Paintbrush–Cascade Canyon Loop is the Tetons at full volume — granite walls, turquoise lakes, wildflower meadows, and a high pass that feels like a gateway to another world. Starting at String Lake, the route climbs toward Holly Lake before cresting Paintbrush Divide, a sweeping alpine saddle with some of the most dramatic views in the range. From there, the trail drops into Lake Solitude and winds through the towering walls of Cascade Canyon. It’s a high‑pass, high‑drama, high‑reward epic — the Teton Pop is pure alpine magic.

The best time to hike the Paintbrush–Cascade Canyon Loop is July through September, when Paintbrush Divide is mostly snow‑free and the full loop is safely passable. Early July can still hold lingering snow on the high pass, while August offers the most stable weather and the smoothest travel. September brings crisp mornings, golden light, and fewer crowds — but also a higher chance of early storms. For a safe, spectacular Teton Pop experience, mid‑summer to early fall is the prime window.
